Symptons of Jet Lag

The symptoms of a jet lag depend on several factors that are actually the causes of a jet lag. Travelling in different time zones, health conditions, diet, movement and sleeping routines can induce the effects of a jet lag in a person. Some commonly known symptoms of jet lag include the following: - Headaches! - Irritability - Lethargy! - Fatigue - Stress - Insomnia - Loss of appetite - Confusion - Dizziness - Gastrointestinal disturbance - Lower performance - Mild depression - Dehydration The symptoms of jet lag depend on the individual differences in the bodies. Some people are more prone to getting a jet lag depending upon their adjustment time to new environment. Some people can have severe symptoms of a jet lag that can take a long time to overcome. Generally people used to travelling frequently tend to overcome the symptoms much earlier than those who are new to it. Those with a healthy and physically fit condition have lighter or fewer symptoms of jet lag. Who Can Get a Jet Lag? Anybody who is travelling across several world time zones is prone to getting the effects of jet lag. If a person crosses one or two time zones there are less chances of having any problems after travelling. According to research people crossing three or more time zones are more likely to suffer the effects of jet lag. Jet lag can affect both men and women and in some cases even children. Usually this problem can occur irrespective of age. However it is more common in people who are over 30 years of age. People over 50 years of age have more frequent effects of jet lag than people less than 30 years of age. Also people suffering from sleeping problems like insomnia are also more likely to suffer from the effects of jet lag. Generally anyone on a long distance flight can suffer from a jet lag. A study conducted in US showed 94% of long haul travelers suffering from jet lag. Another study showed about 93% individuals travelling long distance have experienced jet lag.
